Kace Study: Victorian Newly-wed Cottage

About a hundred years ago,  the owners of this Victorian home built a guest cottage in the back yard for their daughter as a wedding gift.

The newlyweds lived there for a time, and as the years went by the little cottage was used for other purposes until time and decay took it’s toll on it.

The current owners hired Kace Allen Designs to create a modern floor plan and make sure it’s structurally sound.

When I first saw the cottage, the floor and interior walls had been removed and workers were digging a crawl space inside.

Originally I think it was built right on the ground.

After advising them to reinforce the walls and ceiling before going any further,  we worked together on a new floor plan.

While we were at it, we added the front porch, side porch, laundry room, and walk-in closet.

We came up with a great concept, and I got to work on making sure they could get a building permit for the project.

It turned out great, check out how it looks now!
